After Rebuild: Clutch

These images are of the 964 clutch and transmission during and after the maintenance.

This is the left side of my cleaned transmission. The case is a little pitted but it looks so much better that it did. The oil and dirt have also been removed from the transmission carrier and black struts, near the jack handle.

The is how the transmission looked just after it was removed from the engine. Notice the oil and dirt on the outside of the transmission and even on the inside around the spline. That is the old clutch on the bottom left floor.

This is the passenger side of the transmission after it was detached from the engine. 128,000 miles of oil and dirt on the outside and even on the inside near the spline.

The rear of the transmission.

These are my two axels. The left sides in this picture attaches to the transmission and the right side attaches to each wheel. The left seal on the upper axel had to be replaced. 2 of the 4 drive axles CV boots were replaced and the CV joints were cleaned and repacked. CV bolts were replaced as well.

This is the right side of the cleaned transmission.

These are my new Sach’s clutch and pressure plates after being attached to the rebuilt engine. The center is where the transmission spline slides into.
As for repairs, on the transmission, the guide tube and input seal were replaced. On the clutch side, the clutch plate, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pressure plate bolts were replaced. The engine rear crank seal, flywheel bearing and flywheel bolts didn’t need replaced and were not removed during the process.

Here the transmission has been attached to the engine. The starter has been connected to the transmission.
