Rebuild After

[whohit]Rebuild After[/whohit]
These images are of the 964 during and after the maintenance: new brake pads; new front rotors and rebuilt and powder coated calipers; new clutch; complete engine rebuild and cleaning;
powder coated wheels; cleaning of the engine compartment and transmission. These pictures show what was done.

This is the left side of my cleaned transmission. The case is a little pitted but it looks so much better that it did. The oil and dirt have also been removed from the transmission carrier and black struts, near the jack handle. Click here to see the stages of the engine and transmission being cleaned and rebuilt.

This is the tunnel area and rear suspension system.

This is the rear engine compartment from the inside looking out. It also has been cleaned.

This is the under side of the engine compartment. You can see the emission control information label and engine compartment light.

This is the right side of the engine compartment. The oil lines are now cleaned. The silver colored cylinder under the left side hinge is the fuel filter. Just below and to the left of the filter, is the oil level sensor connector. The small yellow object above the fuel filter is the oil dip stick. The round yellow object to the right of the fuel filter is the oil cap. Next to the cap, is the oil filter. Between the oil cap and fuel filter is the power steering reservoir. The cylinder on the right is the oil filter.

This oil tube connection bracket is in the right rear wheel well. The small bolt is the oil drain. The other side of this bracket is in the engine compartment and holds the oil filter.

Rear coil

This is the passenger, rear side of the engine compartment. The oil hoses are much cleaner and look almost new. The frame, wiring harnesses and inner skin have also been cleaned.

The rebuilt engine just back from the mechanic. It’s amazingly clean! Dual distributers (primary distributer on top, secondary distributer below) and a Weber fuel injection system. The top of the engine shows the round, black cylindrical intake tubes feeding air to the intake manifold. In the center of the picture is the impeller used to blow cooler air on the engine. Attached to the impeller shaft is the generator. The bracket to the right of the impeller housing is the air conditioner bracket. Click here to see the stages of the engine and transmission being cleaned and rebuilt.

This is the new pressure plate. The taped tubes on each side of the pressure plate connect to the left and right side heat exchangers. The tube between them is the cross pipe.

This is the passenger side of the transmission showing the starter and solenoid.

This is just after the engine and transmission were attached.

These are my finished, rebuilt, powder coated calipers. Click here to see the stages of the calipers being powdercoated and restenciled.

This is one of my wheels after powder coating. The wheels had quite a number of scrapes, gouges and scratches. The tires were removed, the gouges repaired and then the wheels were powder coated.
The powder coating was done by a company in Speedway, Indian called Indy Powder Coating.

This image is the shut off valve from my fuel overflow tank. The previous owner had tried unsuccessfully to seal a crack. I spent months trying to find the source of the fuel smell when we were driving. My mechanic, Henry, and I were talking and I was explaining that to him, when we looked closer and saw fix attempt. We bent the tubing and saw the crack.

A new shut off valve and that fuel smell is gone.

I tried using Mother’s Back to Black on the dashboard and on the ingition ring to clean it up. It helped the dashboard but the ignition ring’s appearance did not change. For ten bucks I replaced the ignition ring and it looks much cleaner.

The air conditioning hose clamp was loose enough that larger outside hose kept falling out of the clamp. Ten bucks and ten minutes worth of work and the hoses look better.
