New rear lens wiring

I had this car for twelve years and decided to replace the rear lenses.  They don’t see much sun but were very cracked after I replaced then ten years ago.  This apparently is a common problem with the 964 lenses.  When i was looking at the new center lens I saw that it contained two more bulbs.  I’ve never had any lights in the center lens before.  When I hooked the wiring in the lens to the wiring harness I could get neither of the lights to work.  I asked Henry to take a look.

He also found the wiring didn’t have power.  We decided to replace the wiring loom runs into the passenger side rear lens compartment.  Then we wired the feed to the rear reflector lights off the parking brake circuit.

This is the loom for the rear brake and running lights. it is also used to power the center lens.

The cable loom used to power the center lens had lost power. This was caused by oil getting into the right rear brake light compartment.

This is the right rear compartment that contains the wiring loom for the brake lights, running lights and the feed wires for the center lens.

This shows the wiring going from the right rear compartment to the center lens.

We noticed that the license plate lights didn’t work. The bulb was burned out but the light holder was also cracked so we decided to replace it as well.

The wires used to light the license plate. They have been repaired getting ready for the new light holder.
